Pilates is known for helping people to develop both strength and flexibility.
Pilates stretches includes exercises that increase the flexibility of the back, front body, side body, hamstrings and hips.

Core strength is the balanced development of the deep and superficial muscles that stabilize, align and move the truck of the body, especially the abdominals and muscles of the back.

Unlike some forms of exercise, Pilates does not over-develop some parts of the body and neglect others. while Pilates training focuces on core strength it trains the body as an intregrated whole.

It is important to remember that because Pilates exercises consist of slow, controlled movements with no impact on joints, exercises can be tailored to suit rehab patients, pre-and post-natal clients as well as athletes.
Appropriate Pilates programmes can also be tailored for special population groups including post-rehab patients, wheelchair-bound patients, patients with Multiple Sclerosis, Osteoporosis and Fibromyagia.
